ORGANIZED ON JUNE 15, 1994, 
THE INDIANA HIGH SPEED RAIL ASSOCIATION...
  • Forwarded requests to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Ohio Department of Tranportation (ODOT) to apply for federal high speed rail corridors (Press Conference June 11, 1998).
  • Marketed the INDOT request for a Chicago to Cincinnati federal corridor, by way of Gary, Lafayette and Indianapolis, before the United States Department of Transportation (Approved January 1999). 
  • Established the Golden Spike Seminars -"Economic Development and the Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System" (November 1999).
  • Established the Jolene M. Molitoris Golden Spike Award to Mid-America leadership that best promotes the Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System (November 1999).
  • Asked the Indiana General Assembly to form an Indiana High Speed Rail Study Commission (1999), and to approve Indiana's application for membership in the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission (2000).
  • Organized, in cooperation with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Golden Spike Indiana Transportation Summit Meetings (January 2000).
  • Called on the Midwest Regional Rail Initiative and INDOT to move a federal corridor alignment out of Illinois to serve more of Indiana, and to include Gary and Northwest Indiana (2000).
  • Marketed an ODOT application for a Chicago to Cleveland federal high speed rail corridor, via Gary, Indiana and Toledo, Ohio, before the United States Department of Transportation (Approved October 2000).
  • Influenced a discussion that resulted in an INDOT application for an Indianapolis to Louisville federal high speed rail corridor, via Columbus and Jeffersonville (Approved October 2000).
  • Achieved funding from the Indiana General Assembly to study Indiana's portion of the proposed Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System.
  • Held a series of public outreach luncheon events in communities along the proposed high speed rail corridors in Indiana and connecting cities (October 2004).

STILL PENDING
  • A professionally-done marketing video that describes and defines the Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System in the context of commercial, tourism, and urban development.
  • A privately funded Economic Cost Benefits Study , which will provide pertinent economic data for communities served by the Midwest Regional Passender Rail System.
  • Plans to organize Labor Organizations for the Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System.
  • Plans to organize Business Executives for the Midwest Regional Passenger Rail System.
